In August 2015 the ACIDLOOP project conducted a series of training workshops for workers of metal finishing SMEs. The trainings took place in Ahmedabad, Aurangabad and Pune and covered the following topics:

  • Concepts of Resource Efficiency
  • Furnace Operation
  • Workplace organisation according to the “5S” method
  • Motivation of co-workers
  • Role play / case study on resource efficiency (“Fun Factory”)

In Pune, the training was held at MCCI on 22 August 2015. Presentations were given by Mr. Prahlad K. Tewari and Ms. Keerthika Mandava. A total of 37 participants participated in the training workshop, representing the following ten companies: Abhijit Industries & Electroplaters, Modern Engineers, Parshwanath Metal Processors, Sai Surface Coating Works, Bhartee Industries, HYLITE, Bright Metals and Foods, Piyush Electroplaters, Metaclean Industries, and Shivani Metals.


In Aurangabad, the training took place at MASSIA (Marathwada Association of Small Scale Industries & Agriculture) on 24 August 2015. Here, input was provided by Mr. Prahlad K. Tewari and Dr. Vidya S. Batra. The training in Aurangabad was attended by 27 participants, representing the following eight companies: Shri Ram Engineers, SS Controls, Shri Sai Metal Finishers, Krishna Coating, Keshav Metals Pvt. Ltd., Pranav Coating, Dhananjay Auto Parts, and Zumtara.


The last training of this series was held at GVMM Hall, Ahmedabad, on 27 August 2015. The presentations in this training session were given by Mr. Prahlad K. Tewari, Ms. Keerthika Mandava and Mr. Ganesh Chandra Mouli. The training was attended by 17 participants, representing a total of 11 companies: Monika Udyog, Sunrise Stainless Pvt. Ltd., Dwarka, Kad Udyog, Midas Touch, Sagar, Udaya Udyog, Amit Industries, Ratandeep Industries, Mehta Alloys Ltd., and Maya Duyog.



ACIDLOOP is a 4-year project (2012-2016) supported by the European Union (EU) under the SWITCH Asia Programme. This programme emphasizes sustainable consumption and production in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). ACIDLOOP is targeted specifically at the Indian metal finishing industry.  It aims to introduce technology innovation for acid recovery as well as resource efficiency that would lead to improved environmental quality and combat pollution.  The activities is taking place in various locations in northern, western and southern India.
